The day I met Bruce Campbel

This year one of my long time best friends and myself decided to go to Monsterpalooza in Pasadena for the sole purpose of getting to meet Bruce Campbell! My friend actually has a tattoo of him wielding a chainsaw on her Forearm so she is a legit fan girl. We purchased our tickets for Sunday April 14th so we could see his panel and Q&A. The morning of the event finally approaches and I am beyond excited !

The first thing we did when we got there was do a lap and eat and then around lunch time we go to check out his signing line which is a mile long. I point at the line and say here it is, this is Bruce’s line he’s right behind those doors. As I say this out loud a man working the event actually points to a gentleman in a bright yellow shirt with a blue plaid jacket walking by me and he says actually he’s right there going to lunch. I just missed seeing him from the front and only caught a glorious glimpse of the back of his head as he walked into a staff only door that I swear closed so fast after he walked through it. I was immediately red faced and smitten.

With adrenaline rushing through our bodies we decide to get into the line. We waited in the scorching sun not moving because as fore mentioned he was at lunch but it was worth it. I had never seen so many pale horror junkies braving their pasty white skins in the sun before. At long last it was our time to enter the room where my friend had purchased a beautiful photograph of him for $50 bucks to sign. She was in a dilemma because he was pretty much signing one thing per person so it was the Sophie's choice of him signing the photo or signing her arm right next to his tattoo. We walk in and he immediately lights up because as we all know Bruce Campbell loves the ladies! He even mentioned that horror conventions have gotten so much better in the last decade because now more women are interested in horror and it used to be all dudes. He said he was very happy to be entertaining all the gorgeous ladies! I died literally Bruce Campbell said we were gorgeous !! My friend then pulls out the tattoo and tells Bruce of her dilemma. He looks at the tattoo and says “is that suppose to be me?” Because it was a much younger Bruce than the one standing in front of us. He takes the picture and signs it and then says today we get a two-fer and signs her arm as well!!! What a kool guy seriously ! We walked out of there totally high off meeting such a horror legend.

At this point we were junkies and needed more Bruce so we were all to hyped to go jump into line for his Q&A panel. We had been in his signing line so long we didn’t notice people started lining up for that hours before. we walk maybe 20 people down the line and befriend these much younger group of gentleman and strike up a conversation, they of course let us cut in line happy to have the company of women. We get in and sit in the FIRST ROW! The people Bruce can actually see! I take this opportunity to chime in whenever I can and even made an idiot of myself when Bruce called me out. He said " You know they don't make movies like they used to anymore what ever happened to my dinner with Andre? oh why am I even bringing that up no one in this audience even knows what I am talking about" I then decide to yell out "I know what you're talking about!" To my horror he walks over tome looks right at me and says "Okay what am I talking about" I say (like an Idiot) "That time you had dinner with Andre the giant?" He laughed at me and then walked away saying he was ignoring that side of the room now. OMG at least I got his attention. My friend was much more intelligent with her words when he started doing the Q&A he chose her to ask a question and she asked "Do you have anything else working with Sam Raimi or would you work with him again in the future?" Fair question and he gave a nice answer saying how much he loves working with that man. He reminded us of the integral part he played in the Spider Man movies and without his character he would not have the name Spider Man!

Besides my embarrassing moment his panel was non stop laughter. The man knows how to work a room. I can say now and forever I will remain a HUGE Bruce Campbell fan.
